The Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies at the University of Leeds, in association with the SexGen North Network, invites proposals for an event entitled Gender in Global Perspective, to be held at the University of Leeds on June 12th 2025 (9:30am – 5pm). This will be a one-day conference with a keynote address by Professor Toni Haastrup, University of Manchester.

We invite panel proposals (with 3 speakers per panel) on the following possible (but not exhaustive) themes:

  1. Global far-right mobilisations and gender
  2. Feminist foreign policy
  3. Gender and migration
  4. Gender in global value chains
  5. Sexual violence in war and conflict
  6. Reproductive justice in global perspective
  7. Transnational feminist literature(s)
  8. Transnational digital feminism(s)

Proposals should consist of a panel title and 50-100-word summary, and 200-word abstracts for each paper in the panel (each panel will have around 20 minutes per speaker, for guidance). These should be submitted to Marie Johnson at m.b.johnson@leeds.ac.uk. You may also submit an abstract for an individual paper, for a potential general panel at the event (which will be finalised nearer the time).

Panel proposals and abstracts should be submitted by May 15th 2025. Decisions will be communicated by the end of May.

The conference is an open event, so you are encouraged to register to attend even if you do not want to present. Please visit https://forms.office.com/e/BTvGh2Wnd5 to register for a ticket, and further details (venue, specific timings) will be sent out in due course.
